NASA said that last week, US and European Cassini space probes approached the surface of Dione, Saturn's satellite at a distance of 500 kilometers, revealing a frozen surface with marks. tectonic activity but no atmosphere.

Scientists compared Dione to another moon of Saturn, Enceladus, where newly discovered volcanic activity and a thin atmosphere.

According to astronomer Bonnie Buratti, who specializes in studying photos from Cassini, Dione is seen as Enceladus's sister. Enceladus is a young moon with new activity while Dione is an older, more mature moon.

Dione has icy cliffs on the surface. The forces from inside seem to have broken the surface of this satellite, making people think of a tectonic activity.
