Century flood in Malaysia
Malaysia's southern state of Johor, which is suffering from the worst flood in the last 100 years due to prolonged heavy rain, left 22,000 people evacuated and the army was mobilized to rescue people.
Floods also appeared in neighboring Johor states, Malacca and Negeri Sembilan, but the situation is less serious. Approximately 22,000 people in Johor's 8 districts have to stay in town halls, schools and community centers.
A Malaysian military official, Che Moin Umar, announced the figure, while Johor Bahru city police said 26,000 people had to evacuate. According to Che Moin, the number of people who have to temporarily leave their homes will increase in the coming week.
"The flood situation is still very disturbing. But with the right solution we have control of the situation. There is enough food, warm blankets and medical support available for evacuees ".

Johor State Governor A. Othman and experts say that this is the most serious flood in the locality in a century. Military, police, fire protection and volunteer forces have been mobilized to find people who might even be stuck in their homes.
Heavy rains from Sunday have caused the rise of water levels of major rivers to enter Johor's villages and state cities, including Johor Bahru, the capital opposite Singapore. Lion Island is also under the influence of prolonged heavy rain.
According to local meteorological forecasts, heavy rains will continue in Johor and Singapore by the end of this week.
