On February 8, China announced the closure of 205 websites specializing in providing pirated software. This is part of an effort to control and prevent piracy that is very popular in this country.

From September 2006 to January 2007, China opened a total of 436 investigations to attack piracy. In which 130 surveys were conducted at the request of foreign trade associations. 361 cases were identified as violations and were required to close completely.

China closed 205 copyright-infringing websites images 1 71 servers were revoked during these surveys. In which 6 cases were prosecuted before the law. One case was sentenced by the court with a fine of up to 91,000 USD.

China is considered the country with the worst piracy in the world. Many countries have voiced a request for this country to tighten management and be more aggressive with this evil.

For example, in China each disc of major film producers in the world such as Fox or Warner Bros. is only sold for $ 1.29. Or most recently is Microsoft's Windows Vista case. While on January 30, Microsoft officially launched this operating system, the Chinese market had "pirated" for less than 2 USD for several weeks.

Currently China has about 843,000 websites and the government cannot estimate how many of them contain copyright infringement content.
