Polyester rubber is bio-based and uses this material to make shoe soles.

According to China Science Daily, a team of researchers from Beijing University of Chemical Technology has developed a bio-based polyester rubber and used this material to make shoe soles, while the Other parts of the shoes are made from hemp, bamboo and corn stalk latex.

The research team - led by Mr. Zhang Liqun, an expert from the Chinese Academy of Engineering - has completed trial production of 1,000 tons of polyester rubber. This rubber can also be used to produce bio-based biodegradable tires and oil-resistant rubber gaskets.

The team has already started small-scale production of these shoes and in the future will work with businesses to conduct mass production.

According to expert Wang Zhao - a member of the research team, the lack of supply of biodegradable rubber has limited the development of biological shoes in China and accordingly, up to 1 billion pairs of shoes are thrown away. discarded every year, posing a major threat to the environment.
