China discovered sweet potato flour made from writing ink, kerosene

Authorities in southern China raided an old pig farm, which is making fake sweet potato flour, made from corn, writing ink and kerosene to market. This is the latest scandal in a series of food counterfeiting in this country.

According to Xinhua , the fake sweet potato flour mill is located in Zhoushan city, in Guangdong province. This factory produces a ton of fake powder every day, starting in February.

This powder is labeled as ' delicious pure sweet potato flour ' and is a specialty of neighboring Hunan province, Xinhua said. It is unclear who was arrested and who was sick because of this powder.

Potato flour is widely used in Chinese dishes, to make noodles or to soften meat.

Chinese food industry in recent years has lost great credibility after poisoning scandals. A series of government scouts don't seem to bring much results. In 2008, at least 6 children were killed and nearly 300,000 others were sick because melamine-containing powdered milk and toxic industrial chemicals were added to low-quality milk to fool protein tests. .
