China is at the forefront of clean energy use
China invested $ 34.6 billion to develop environmentally friendly energy sources in 2009 (nearly twice the amount of US investment), thus becoming the world's leading country in terms of use clean energy.

The government has planned a 10-year plan to develop clean energy, striving to 2020 clean energy accounting for 15% of the country's total energy use.
To achieve this goal, the government has invested heavily in building nuclear power plants, wind power, solar power plants and promoting research on renewable energy technology.
In 2009, renewable energy accounted for nearly 10% of total energy use in China, up from 8.5% in 2008.
Wind power in China currently reaches 25,000 megawatts, ranking third in the world after the US and Germany.
