China re-measured the Great Wall
On November 16, China said it will conduct a re-measure of the Great Wall by modern means to more accurately determine the length and shape of this world-famous cultural heritage.
The Chinese Great Wall Institute, which is directly responsible for this heritage research and management, said a comprehensive remote sensing survey project is in the research phase. The exam, aimed at measuring the Great Wall as well as providing images of the overall shape and composition of this ancient building. The project will also help the preservation of the Great Wall, where there are ruins due to the impact of nature or people.
Currently the Great Wall is determined to have a total length of 7,300 km. This work was built from the life of Qin Shui Huang, the first emperor to unify China (246 BC), then rebuilt and built mainly in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
