This is announced by the China National Oceanic Commission (SOA) after conducting seawater tests on the coastal region of the country.

With sea water pollution at the above level, people cannot swim, aquaculture or use it for industrial purposes.
The announcement once again points to the downside of the modernization that the Chinese government has adopted, in return for a dramatic downfall of the natural environment.
The SOA announcement states: " The pollution of coastal waters and the impact on ecosystems . is still very serious."
Previously, according to 72 underwater monitors, polluters had dumped more than 17 million tons of waste into the sea compared to last year. This waste includes 46,000 tons of persistent waste and 93,000 tons of oil.
According to China Daily, more than 80% of the area along the Bohai Sea in northern China has been used for construction projects and factories, while just over 5% has remained in its original state.
