The mummy of the 94-year-old monk in meditation posture at Puzhou Temple, Quanzhou, China, has just been announced to the public during a religious ceremony. He is also known as the "living Buddha" in this country.

More than 3 years ago, the monk Fu Hou passed away at Puzhou Temple, Quanzhou, Fujian, China, taking 94 years of age. After his death, his body was placed in a large vase and stored at the temple.

On January 10, during a religious ceremony, the temple opened the vase in the presence of dozens of other Buddhist monks and nuns. As can be seen, the monk's remains remain completely intact in the lotus-style meditation posture . Meanwhile, the monk's eyebrows and beard, though not intact, can still be seen.

Traditionally, people would cover a layer of gold outside the monk's body, make a Buddha image, and place it outside the temple.

It is known that the monk Fu Hou was born in JinJiang, Fujian Province in 1919. He went to monkhood at the age of 13. According to the disciples, he was a quiet person, always in charge of every religious act. As someone with little contact with the outside world, Monk Fu Hou is a compassionate person, respected by many disciples. Before his death, the monk decided to embalm the body. His body was preserved with charcoal and sandalwood.
