The trial version of computer anti-virus software CMC Internet Security has over 500 thousand downloads after only a short time appeared online.
This is the product of CMC Information Security Security Joint Stock Company (a subsidiary of CMC Group).
Update every minute
CMC-IS was developed from Moon Secure AV, antivirus software won the First prize of Vietnam Intelligence in 2004. Mr. Trieu Tran Duc, author of Secure AV Moon Software is currently General Director of Security An Joint Stock Company. All information CMC said, this new product is not only a virus protection but also a comprehensive protection tool for Internet users, has the function of antivirus, anti-phishing, content filtering, virus blocking via mail.
The most difference of this software according to Mr. Duc is the technology of automatically updating virus samples and patches. CMC-IS has two 5-minute cycle updates and smart updates. Smart update is an updated system decided by CMC's server system, depending on the virus situation, if the virus spreads quickly, the update mode is very fast, can be calculated in seconds.
During the test, CMC updated about 3000-5000 new virus samples every day, the number according to Mr. Duc is much equivalent to the number of daily updated virus of other brand names. To date, CMC has analyzed more than 1 million viruses. New virus samples are collected through sales and exchanges with foreign antivirus companies; from the user sent; from virus traps (honeypot) CMC located at major network nodes in Vietnam. In addition, CMC has an automated web browsing server system, which downloads suspected virus files for analysis.
In the above ways of sampling viruses, CMC focuses on sources of viruses taken from domestic users. The feature of virus sampling from users in CMC software is designed very simply, just one click. Besides, Mr. Duc said that in the coming time, CMC will open campaigns to send virus samples in Vietnam. "The number of viruses provided by Vietnamese users is the actual number, which are problems that domestic Internet users are facing," Duc said.
In about half a month of online testing, CMC products attracted more than 500 thousand downloads. The number of virus samples sent by users to CMC is increasing, on average a few dozen new virus samples a day. Following this momentum, Mr. Duc said that in the coming time, every day CMC could get 1000-2000 new virus samples provided by domestic users.
In addition to the updated advantages, the anti-virus software of CMC has a simple interface, displaying Vietnamese and English language bilinguals. Designed to suit Vietnamese users, right-clicking or left-clicking on the icon tray of the software in the system tray displays the features. The entire core of the software is only about 12 MB, not significantly affecting computer speed.
Will go to the end
Mr. Duc affirmed that the quality has been tested enough to produce finished products. CMC will officially release the product in the coming time after the end of the extensive testing phase. This product has a free version for home users but also a commercial version for business customers.
The difference between free and commercial versions is primarily the quality of support services. Customers buy commercial versions that are supported by phone or send staff to rescue directly at the company. The update time for the commercial version is faster than the free version, if the user calculates in minutes, the business counts in seconds. In addition, customers buy commercial versions that are updated directly into the company's server, then transfer to each machine to help reduce bandwidth for businesses. However, the free version is also full of features, updated every minute.
According to Duc, writing anti-virus software is not difficult, but updating requires a workforce to analyze new virus samples, needing a server and network infrastructure strong enough to keep millions of users updated regularly. Do not disclose specifically the amount of investment in software but according to Mr. Duc, CMC has invested to the highest level that venture capital funds can invest. "CMC pledged to come along in the antivirus software business," said Duc.
