Cochlear implants improve hearing
Cochlear implants can increase hearing, speech and quality of hearing loss, and cochlear implants have better results than a cochlear implant, according to Reuters.
Hearing loss reduces the quality of life
The study was published in JAMA Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, introducing the research results of scientists at Tufts Medical Center in Boston (USA).
The research team reviewed 42 previous studies comparing hearing, speech and quality of life before and after cochlear implants, as well as comparing the above abilities in transplant recipients 1 or 2 cochlea.
The studies used tests conducted at different stages to assess the effectiveness of the transplant.
After cochlear implant, although hearing ability cannot be as good as usual, the ability to speak and understand is very good, according to Pamela Roehm, an expert in ear and throat at Langone Medical Center (USA), someone who is not in the research group.
The head of the study, James Gaylor, said: 'We hope the research results will provide more information for patients to decide on cochlear implants'.
