Learn how to breed pigs to improve people's hearing

According to The Daily Mail, scientists at Oldenburg University, Germany, had a surprising finding: They found that pig birds do not lose hearing when they get older.

Often hearing loss in the aging process due to death of hearing receptor cells. But in pig birds, these cells are able to recover. It may be thanks to this finding by researchers that there will certainly be new remedies to overcome hearing loss.

In the process of aging, the hearing of pigs is not lost.

In the study, experts evaluated the hearing of seven pig birds. 4 young birds (under 2 years old), and 3 old birds. Among them, 2 birds are 13 years old and another bird is 17 years old. Pig birds are placed in a sound chamber with amplifiers to produce sounds at 0.5 - 12 kilohertz frequency that lasts 300 milliseconds.

The researchers did not recognize the difference in hearing between young birds and old birds. In addition, the researchers examined the hearing of a 23-year-old pig bird throughout its life. Experts have determined that with age, birds' hearing is not worse. According to researchers, in the process of aging, hearing of other birds such as starlings, for example, is not lost. Clearly, the secret is in the process of regenerating auditory receptors in the cochlea.

Researchers hope this finding will help find ways to improve hearing in the elderly.
