Mr. Nguyen Xuan Toan, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Citadel Preservation Center said that recently, during the process of surveying, collecting and researching, the center officials have discovered a long-old abandoned well at Xuan Giai village, Vinh Tien commune, Vinh Loc district. This well is located about 300 meters away from Ho Chi Minh City to the south-east, with a circle, 2m in diameter, 6m deep, and a 1 meter high well.

Note of the center officials through the story of Pham The Vinh, 90 years old, in Xuan Giai village, in 1946-1947, the well was rehabilitated by the villagers on the old well base with brick cover taken from Thanh Nha Ho . Brick wells are 50cm long, 25cm wide and 9cm high.

Most of these tiles keep fresh pink, evenly cooked. On the surface of many bricks engraved Han Nom letters of origin of villages such as Dai An commune, Ke Nua commune Thach, Co Loi am (Tho Xuan district today).

The tools in Xuan Gia village today do not know when the well appeared. They only knew when they were young and the whole village used that well water. After many years of abandonment, there are no users, around the algae wells, weeds grow full.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Toan said: Many people affirmed that this well existed hundreds of years ago, however, the exact date is related to the birth of the well.

A strange object has just been discovered.

Last December archaeologists also discovered strange artifacts located in the Ho Chi Minh Citadel heritage when excavated at Hoang Gia Street, Hao Thanh area in the east and the northern gate area of the heritage.

These artifacts are all made from green limestone of the same type of stone used to build Nha Ho Citadel, a trapezoidal shape, with round holes through the upper body, weighing up to tons.

Initially, there are many different views of local researchers and intellectuals about the use of this artifact.

There is a scientist who thinks this may be the counterweight of the rock shot lever used to fire the stone balls for military service of the Ho Dynasty and at the end of the 14th-early 15th century.

Many local elders believe that this is a tool to tie elephants (an animal used by Ho to transport stones).

Meanwhile, according to TS. Do Quang Trong - Director of the Ho Chi Minh Citadel Heritage Center, this is the counterweight of pulley pulley to build the citadel. At the end of the 14th and early 15th centuries, construction techniques were not developed, most of them relied on manual labor, the invention of the pulley pulling the rock up high was considered the ingenious creation of the builders. Ho time.

Depending on the volume of small or large blocks of rock that need to be pulled up to build that workers combine one or more of these tools to counterbalance the pulley.

This artifact was put on display at the heritage site. Different interpretations make many discoveries at the Ho Chi Minh City heritage a mystery that needs further study.
