More than 14,000 Cuban-produced solar panels have been installed in the Center of Catarrana in Cienfuegos province.

By design, every square meter of solar panels will provide about 5kWh / day. Experts estimate that the center will be put into operation, which will help Cuba double its solar production.

Previously, Cuba had only about 9,000 solar panels scattered in rural schools and hospitals.

Cuba aims to increase the proportion of electricity produced from renewable energy sources to 10% by 2030, compared with only 4% currently. To accomplish this goal, the Cuban government will continue to complete the installation of solar panels at six centers in Havana, Guantanamo, Camaguey, Santiago de Cuba, Villa Clara and the Island of Youth to soon put into operation in the coming months.
