Cycling helps to reduce 90% of migraine
Swedish scientists found that following a regular cycling program, with moderate intensity, reduces the risk of headaches by up to 90%.
Volunteers took part in an indoor cycling course for 3 times / week for 3 months. After the training, most of them said that the number of days with migraine decreased significantly, the level of pain also decreased and they had less medication.
The key to the problem is that exercise stimulates the secretion of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers.
'Many people with migraines often avoid sports activities because they think it only makes their headaches worse. However, in fact, migraine sufferers have a quite sensitive nervous system and often overreact to anything. At that time, playing a regular sport would have an effective headache relief effect , 'reports the scientists at Cephalea Headache Center (Gothenburg).
Previous research has also shown that movement such as walking or swimming is very effective because it slows down the reaction and solves the problem very gently.
Thus, exercise is not only good for the heart, lungs, but also works to enhance brain health.
Studies have shown that hardworking people also have volume in some important areas of the brain (such as language, memory and emotions) than those who do not practice. Because it slows down the aging process of the brain and scientists also think that sports can help strengthen and develop nerve cells.
This experiment included 52 participants. They get a CT scan and interview about the sports process.
