Decode the feeling of headache when flying

Some people who suffer from severe headaches when traveling are due to acute sinusitis, a result of sudden pressure changes, also known as barotraumas.

A 30-year-old woman told Health Sina that every time she took an airplane, the right face and forehead showed severe pain, especially when the plane landed. Due to work requirements to regularly fly, she took painkillers but the condition did not improve. On examination, a sinus sinus X-ray, she discovered the right jaw sinus with fluid. Doctors diagnose patients with acute sinusitis caused by pressure injuries , also known as barotraumas.

Increasing pressure when lowering severely aggravates the condition

Previously invented a hot air balloon, engineers sitting on hot air balloons at high altitudes often experience severe headaches. Later, the aircraft was invented, the pilots also experienced this headache when lowering altitude. Neurologist Dr. Chen Jian Zhi said that people with allergic rhinitis are at risk of having sinusitis in barotrauma form.

Taking antihistamine antibiotics before flying can reduce symptoms

When the plane rises, the pressure drops, the air in the sinus releases the sinus hole. In contrast, when airplanes lower altitudes, air pressure increases, the swollen sinus lining blocks the sinus hole, which can cause a sinus to leak, causing a rupture of the blood vessels, congestion of the sinuses.

Dr. Chen said that to avoid these symptoms, before taking a flight, histamine or drug may be used to reduce symptoms.

Controlling allergic rhinitis resolves the root of the problem

In order to completely cure the above symptoms, it is best to thoroughly treat allergic rhinitis. The patient may have a nose laser surgery in conjunction with a nasal spray. Dr. Chen advised when symptoms occur, people need to see a treating doctor. Otherwise, it will lead to increased symptoms, fear leading to stroke and other serious complications.
