Decode tricks of mummification from the Bronze Age

According to the results of ancient bone research, experts discovered the British embalmed from the Bronze Age.

The process of mummification from the Bronze Age

Although the weather in the UK has a lot of rain, it does not seem to be the ideal place to embalm. However, the new study results show that England is one of the places where the mummification process was carried out from the Bronze Age.

Specifically, archaeologists discovered that the dead body was preserved in different ways such as placing the body in a swamp, smoked or removing organs when embalming in the Bronze Age (period extending from about 2200 BC - 750 BC).

This is a bronze artifact found in the UK that can be embalmed by placing the body in a particularly dry or smoked environment.

At first glance the remains were collected, and the experts did not think it was mummies. Because this area has a humid climate for a long time, it causes the body to decompose, including skin, internal organs or even human bones when buried in the ground. However, over the past years, archaeologists have discovered a number of bronze comedies and conducted inspections and analyzes.

The test results showed that people in the British era had mummified the bodies of the deceased even though the criteria for selecting mummies were unknown.

When humans die, human intestinal bacteria that once support the digestion process will slowly "attack" the corpse.

"After death, human cells will begin the process of decomposing the body. Bacteria will begin to attack soft tissues in the human body that dies just hours after the person dies , " said the researcher. Thomas Booth said.

Later, intestinal bacteria will "attack" the bone, leaving tiny "tunnels" in the human body when they eat protein in the dead bone.

Of the 34 remains from the Bronze Age in the study, more than half of the bodies were immediately buried. The remaining 16 remains are very well preserved compared to mummies in Ireland and Yemen. This shows that these bronze bodies were embalmed after their deaths.
