Decode why the best vision at 8pm and 8am?
Visual acuity of people is usually best at 8 pm at sunset and 8 am when dawn. At this point, the brain often stops working to focus on vision.
There is less than 26% activity in the brain region at dusk and dawn compared to other times. Human eyesight is often the worst at 2 pm, when it is impossible to identify the blinking objects. This is the time when the eyes are the least visual.
A study has demonstrated that human vision is best at dusk and dawn. Since ancient times, before the light bulb was invented, at night was a time when people had to be alert to the most wild animals.
Neuroscientists from Goethe University in Frankfurt experimented on 14 men from 8 am to 11 pm in 2 days. These people were asked to see a flash of a cross on a black background and found that they only saw it best at 8am and 8pm.
Researchers found that visual cortical activity decreased at 8 am and 8 pm. At this time, they easily receive image signals and background noise.
Our brains are usually best at times.
People who do the experiment do better while examining the visual activity of the brain. When asked to press the button when they saw the orange blinking crucifix, participants saw an average of 32 to 33 times during the 8 pm and 8 am periods.
The average at other times is only 30 to 31 times, which proves the poorest vision of people is at 2 pm.
Researchers did not test participants at other times because they did not want to break their sleep. But they believe that the eyesight of the best person is at sunset and dawn because the light is at its lowest.
Conducting brain scans, they found that the brain improves vision at this time by turning off background activity in the visual cortex, processing weak signals from a dimmer light better.
In the same study, Dr. Christian Kell from the brain imaging center at Goethe University said that driving at night or sunset will be easier because the brain can change the perception of light. This will help ancient humans survive by aggressive lions.
"It will keep people safe at critical times when the predator appears. The brain inhibits activity in the auditory area, which is why not only vision, hearing is better than in the time. This point, " said Dr. Christian Kell.
