Dell laptops again burn and destroy a house
A fire caused damage to house 117 on Granite Street in Biddeford (Maine state, USA) caused by a laptop computer while charging. The owner plugged in the Dell Inspiron 1200 and left it and went to work.
" Something must have happened to the power cord of the battery charger or adapter ," said Christopher Stanford, the police inspector. " The living room is the most damaged and that's where this laptop is ."
Firefighters said the computer was identified as the only cause of the fire. They have eliminated other reasons such as intentional fire.
" The sofa has been completely burned and the computer is on the remains of the chair, " Stanford said. When the fire happened, there was no one at home, so it did not cause damage to people. Total damage is estimated at $ 100,000.
This is the second fire that destroyed homes in this area. Before that, a Compaq computer was fired and caused the same damage. Dell spokesman has not commented yet. 2006 was the year the company faced a laptop battery recovery because it caused many fires.
