Detecting hazardous waste from Italy to Vietnam
Immediately after the police and tax authorities of the port of Taranto, southern Italy, seized 124 tons of toxic waste prepared to be sent to Vietnam, police and customs of Napoli also prevented five containers containing 105.6 tons of hazardous waste is being transported to the ship to transport to Vietnam.
The VNA led a source from the Napoli Police Department saying that these containers contained plastic pieces and used compressed air containers like the ones collected in Taranto. However, while the containers collected in Taranto indicate that the goods will be shipped to Korea, the containers seized in Naples listed in the bill of lading will be transferred to Vietnam.

Authorities have not given any comment on this seizure. However, according to the Tg2 newsletter of Italian TV RAI released on October 15, the seizures were in a raid on the Italian police's big crime. Tg2 argued that there was a link between cargo blocks filled with toxic industrial waste transferred from Taranto and Napoli to Vietnam. It is possible that these garbage transfers are made by Napoli mafia.
The VNA said it is still unclear whether the individual or company in Vietnam will receive the exported garbage.
