Detecting large groundwater bags

The study estimates that about half a million cubic kilometers of low-salt water are located beneath the seabed of reefs around the world, concentrated mainly in Australia, China, North America and South Africa.
The group said there are two ways to exploit this water source. One is to build an offshore rig to drill straight into the groundwater bag. The second is drilling from the mainland or the island near this groundwater bag.
According to Professor Post, when the situation of fresh water in the world is very tense, the discovery of fresh or brackish water bags under the seabed is an interesting research result, allowing people to add new options to reducing the effects of drought and water shortages in continents of the world.
However, Mr. Post stressed that people need to be careful when using these groundwater reserves because once they are depleted they will not be able to recover.
