Detecting lethal and deadly pathogenic bacteria in South America

According to a study published in the Sept. 7 New England Journal of Medicine, fever, a common deadly disease in Southeast Asia caused by bacteria and transmitted to humans through intermediaries is Mite larvae, have appeared in South America.

Reporters in Latin America said that through the study, a group of scientists from Oxford University, the University of Christianity and the University of Development (Chile), identified a tropical disease that claimed life. of at least 140,000 people / year in this Asia-Pacific region appeared at Chiloé, a large island off Chile, ie about 12,000 km away from the "traditional area" across the Pacific coast.

Fever is transmitted randomly to humans when the larvae are infected with R.orientalis infection.

Fever has been known for many years, but it was not until the years 1916-1921 that the larvae were identified as the vector of the disease, and in 1930, a Japanese professor isolated the virus. Orientia tsutsugamushi bacteria cause this disease in the patient's blood.

The disease is randomly transmitted to people who have been infected by the larval larvae of R.orientalis, causing chills, headache, high fever, lymphadenopathy and body ulcers and eyelids.

Larvae mite infection R.orientalis infection will penetrate the lymphatic system causing lymphadenitis, and penetrate into the blood causing systemic endocarditis, causing lesions and inflammation.

Previously, the febrile illness was localized in an area called "tsutsugamushi triangle" in which Pakistan is the western peak, the Russian Far East is the eastern and southern peak of Northern Australia.

But in 2006, there were 2 cases of feverish infection outside the upper triangle area, 1 in the Middle East due to a bacterium that had them with Orientia tsusutgamushi caused and 1 in the island of Chiloe.

In January 2015 and the early days of this year, there were 3 more cases of febrile illness at Chiloe.

What is febrile illness?

Fever is also known as jungle fever or Tsutsugamushi. The outbreak is circulating in the Eastern Pacific regions, including Vietnam. This is an epidemic disease, there are three typical symptoms: ulcers, swollen glands and maculopapular rash. However, fever is also easily confused with many other fever diseases.
