These gymnosperms are distributed in an area of nearly 500 ha in Nam Dong commune (Quan Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province).

Currently, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee is directing relevant units to plan to build a project to establish a species conservation area in Nam Dong commune to preserve the four species mentioned above.

According to the survey of Quan Hoa FPD, these conifer trees live on rocky mountains at an altitude of 1,000-1,300m, many trees over 100 years old, the largest trees have a diameter of 150cm.

Among them, the Pinus kwangtungensis (Pinus kwangtungensis) discovered 1,240 trees, Cephalotaxus hainanensis with 260 trees, Thong Tre short leaf (Podocarpus pilgeri Foxw) with 285 trees, White-striped Pinecone (Amentotaxus argotaenia) with 450 tree.

All four species of plants have regenerated generation.

With the discovery of 4 species of upper conifer tree with relatively large concentrated area (nearly 500 ha), it is particularly important in the conservation of rare and endangered animals and plants.

Especially with the discovery of the distribution of regenerated species of pine tree, it opens a new research direction for the sexual propagation of this species because previous studies do not propagate the pine tree species due to seeds. have embryos.
