Being primate species distributed in Southeast Asia but the number of gray langurs in Vietnam is not much, distributed in some places such as: Yen Bai; Lai Chau, Ha Noi, Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An are ranked at endangered levels in both the Vietnam Red Book and the World Red Book.

However, this is only the initial discovery, there is no accurate information on population density and size of this species. In order to conserve gray langurs at Pu Huong Nature Reserve, scientists need to be involved in order to understand the characteristics of growth, development, quantity, and give specific plans.

MB leaders have proposed activities to investigate population density, size, status of threats and action plan for conservation of gray langurs in Pu Huong Nature Reserve to avoid being hunted and killed by people.

The NR has been investigating by using optical camera traps as well as taking ordinary photos of this gray langur. Also willing to buy photos of people taking photos to continue investigation and conservation.
