Earlier, during a forest patrol in conjunction with surveys and surveys to propose the conservation and conservation of endangered precious and rare species highly threatened, Bat Xat Nature Reserve Management Board issued At present, Sub-Area 62, Den Sang commune (Bat Xat) has a rare and precious thistles population , only distributed in Lao Cai and some northern provinces with very small numbers.

Ironwood is one of Vietnam's 33 pine species, and is listed as an endangered species at the national and international level.

In Lao Cai, thistle is only found in Hoang Lien National Park with some scattered individuals and small trees, while in Bat Xat Nature Reserve, the population of trees is large and concentrated, intact and valuable. in scientific research and conservation and development of precious and rare gene sources. Mr. Trung added that in the coming time, the Management Board of Bat Xat Nature Reserve will propose to build the project of 'Conservation and development of rare genetic resources and protection of biodiversity of conifer species' in here.

Bat Xat Nature Reserve is considered as one of the places with high biodiversity values ​​by domestic and international scientists, with many rare and precious species of plants and animals. More than 940 species of vascular plants and 157 species of vertebrates were discovered here. including 38 species of plants in the Vietnam Red Book, five species in the world red book, discovered a new plant species, 22 species of animals in the Vietnam Red Book, 13 species of animals in the world red book, 20 species under Decree 32/2006 / ND-CP, six endemic animals.
