Detecting 'world's strongest' antibodies against Covid-19

Chilean researchers claim to have discovered the "world's strongest" antibody that is resistant to the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes Covid-19 acute respiratory infection.

The antibody is produced by a lumpless camel and can be given to humans to neutralize the SARS-CoV-2 virus through a nasal inhaler.

According to Dr. Alejandro Rojas, head of the medical biotechnology laboratory at Chile's Austral University, this antibody can effectively block the virus's ability to replicate. People who receive this antibody can produce more antibodies in the long run in their immunity.

After the successful isolation of antibodies from llamas, researchers at Austral University must also demonstrate the ability to suppress the SARS-CoV-2 virus of this antibody. 

Rojas said the cost of testing for new antibodies could be as high as US $ 2 million and stressed that this is "a matter of global importance".

Regarding Covid-19, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on June 12 that the country would require passengers' body temperature checks at airports to curb the spread of Covid-19 acute respiratory infection.

Trudeau stated that passengers with a fever would not be allowed onboard. Staff working at the airport areas will also be required to take a body temperature test. The purpose of these measures is to keep people safe.

Currently, the Canadian government is facing great pressure when many businesses want the government to loosen travel restrictions. 

Leaders of the Canadian Trade Council, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the Canadian Tourism Association . said that many measures to restrict travel are being applied are overkill, in the context of the tourism sector. - Travel - customer service suffered heavy losses due to Covid-19 pandemic.

According to statistics on the Government of Canada website, the number of SARS-CoV-2 virus infections in the country has reached 97,943, including 8,049 deaths.
