Detection of new Ebola virus in Sierra Leone

AFP news agency (France) cited sources from the Sierra Leone Government as saying that researchers have discovered a new Ebola virus in bats in the country , two years after the end of the most serious outbreak of Ebola outbreak. In West Africa, more than 11,000 people died.

Congolese people were successfully treated after being infected with the Ebola virus in Itipo on June 11.

The team discovered the virus in the Bombali area, northern Sierra Leone. Scientists say the virus could be transmitted to humans but it has not been determined whether it could cause a deadly disease and whether there has been any infection.

Siera Health Ministry spokesman Leone Harold Thomas said residents in the area were advised not to eat bat meat.

In December 2013, the most serious outbreak of Ebola ever started from southern Guinea and then spread to neighboring countries in the West African region, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

The virus strain was identified as Zaire Ebola discovered for the first time since 1976. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 11,300 people were killed and nearly 29,000 others were infected with the virus during the outbreak.
