Discover a new plant species in Hon Ba

According to the Institute of Tropical Biology, scientists have discovered, describing a new plant species and a new record of the family of Rubiaceae, and another new record of the Polygalaceae family in the NR. Hon Ba, Khanh Hoa province.

This study is carried out in the framework of research cooperation between the Institute of Tropical Biology under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Asian Ecological Conservation Center of Kyushu University, Japan.

The new plant species was named Lady Lasianthus honbaensisV.Sun, Tagane & H.Toyama , and 2 new records supplement the Vietnamese flora including Xanthophyllum obscurumA.W.Benn. and Gaertnera junghuhnianaMiq.

Smoked genus (LasianthusJack) is a large genus of Coffee family (Rubiaceae) with about 180 species distributed mainly in Asia, less in Africa and America. Particularly in Vietnam, this genus has about 33 species including this new species and is often found in mountainous areas above 1000 m.

The Hon Ba species (Lasianthus honbaensisV.S.Dang, Tagane & H.Toyama) are characterized by 1–3.5m tall shrubs and hairy branches. The opposite leaves, the elliptical or ellipsoid to the oval oval, the upper surface is smooth, the underside is hairy; wedge-shaped root, pointed tip with nose. Clusters of flowers grow in leaf axils, bearing many flowers; sessile flowers; radio station bell; cylindrical colon, white. The fruit is egg-shaped to oval, orange when ripe. This is the second new species of the Xylocarpus genus discovered and described in Hon Ba NR, Khanh Hoa province.

Chili chili is a species of the Polyculture (Polygalaceae) and is recorded at an altitude of 617m in the evergreen forest of Hon Ba Nature Reserve, Khanh Hoa province. This is a new recorded species to complement the flora of Vietnam.

The cover is a species of coffee family (Rubiaceae) and recorded at an altitude of 900m in the evergreen forest of Hon Ba Nature Reserve, Khanh Hoa province. This is also a new recorded species to complement the flora of Vietnam.
