Discover treasures that contain extremely valuable gold coins on the Black Sea coast

Bulgarian archaeologists have discovered a treasure containing 957 precious artifacts at the Kaliakra Fortress on the Black Sea coast.

In a notice issued on August 22, Bulgaria National Museum of History said the treasure contained 873 silver coins and 28 'extremely valuable' gold coins dating from the Ottoman Empire and the Empire. Bulgaria's country in the second half of the 14th century.

The treasure also includes 22 silver and copper coins, 11 gold earrings, 2 rings and some other precious objects.

Archaeologists discovered the treasure on August 17 while excavating a room destroyed by fire in the late 14th century.

Kaliakra Fortress is part of an archaeological reserve on the Kaliakra cape, in the Northern Black Sea region.

Archaeologists have conducted numerous excavations at this fortress for 15 consecutive years. Previously, they had discovered two similar treasures but in smaller quantities, containing a total of 140 Ottoman coins from the end of the 14th century and two gold earrings and other small jewelry.

Located at the intersection of many different civilizations on the Balkan Peninsula, Bulgaria has one of the richest archaeological heritage in Europe.
