Discovered 2,000-year bronze drum in Ha Tinh

Ha Tinh Museum has just announced the discovery of the Dong Son drum face at a farmer family in Can Loc district.

Mr. Le Ba Hanh, Deputy Director of Ha Tinh Museum said yesterday afternoon, Dong Son bronze drum face was found by Mr. Ho Hai Nam's family in Yen village, Thuan Thien commune, Can Loc district during the garden renovation process.

45cm drum diameter, weighs about 4kg, has 9 concentric pattern rings. The middle part of the drum is a circle more than 10 cm wide. Inside the drum surface there is a 10-pointed sun-shaped star, alternating between being dotted with diagonal lines with interlocking triangles.

Around the center of the drum is a circle of carved J-shaped patterns with a broken piece, the other is a symbol of engraved relief. geometric pattern motifs, such as fruit-shaped spiral patterns, sawtooth patterns and short parallel lines.

According to Hanh, the date of the bronze drum on the way today is more than 2,000 years, belonging to Dong Son bronze drum type II (Heger)."This is a rare bronze drum discovered for the first time in Ha Tinh. The drum face needs to be reserved for research work on Dong Son civilization in Ha Tinh" , Hanh said.
