Discovered 60 new species of creatures

Scientists say 60 new species of creatures have never been described before. Unique among them was the chocolate-colored frog and the tiny bug of only 2.5mm in Surinam.

These findings are the result of an expedition from 2012 to the region with both the terrain of rivers, mountains and tropical forests in the eastern part of the South American country. Researchers say the site of the search seems to have no human influence.

It is particularly surprising that the number of frog species newly discovered in this area. Biologist Trond Larsen told the BBC that before the extinction of many frog species worldwide, the finding is significant for scientific research, particularly the Cocoa climbing frog . Chocolate skin frogs also live on trees and they use disc-shaped toes to climb trees.

A beetle species named Scientific Canthidiumcf. minimum has a ruby ​​body color, determined by scientists to be one of the two smallest sized beetles known in South America.

UPI news agency said scientists went to this remote place by plane, then relayed through helicopters, followed by boats and finally walked to reach the area to be studied. Initially, they counted 1,378 different species of creatures.
