The 10 most exotic creatures have been discovered in 2018
Perhaps many of us will be surprised when scientists continue to search for new species until today, the encyclopedia of all species has not yet been updated. This year, many new creatures are found and many of them are exotic species with an incomprehensible appearance.
From the depths of the ocean to the towering tropical trees, here is a list of the most strange creatures discovered in 2018.
Genie catfish, a shark with picturesque eyes
Found by Florida scientists in July, the new shark was named Eugenie Clark after the famous shark researcher. Its other name is Genie Catfish, which features bright blue eyes that look like the eyes of cartoon characters.

Although of the shark family, the size of this animal is only about 50 cm to 60 cm long. The scientific name of this fish is Squalus clarkae, which is concentrated in the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Such fishes are often difficult to find but can only be discovered by chance, they are vulnerable to commercial hunting.
Marine scientist Mariah Pfleger shared this new finding: 'To preserve precious fishes living in deep water like this, we must first identify them and proceed to list the species. need protection, before the fish hunters catch it and sell it for money '.
Bees parasite with sharp spines on the back
A parasitic wasp comes with sharp spikes on the back found by researchers from Pennsylvania State University and London's Natural History Museum in January.

Based on the appearance of the newly discovered bee, the researchers believe that the bee lives parasitic and lays eggs on the host's body. When it was time to leave, he used sharp knives on his back to sever this bond and start living independently.
New Tapanuli orangutans, newly discovered orangutans
This newly discovered orangutan in Indonesia is named for its own species, the Tapanuli orangutan. The reason for naming, because it is a completely different orangutan, is distinctly different from the other two orangutans that are home to Sumatra, Indonesia. In 2001, the Sumatra Orangutan and Borneo Orangutan were recognized as two separate species.

In early 2018, student James Askew, who recently graduated from Southern California University, found a male orangutan with a long howl and high pitched sound, very different from other orangutans. After a long time of studying and studying behavior, habits and physical characteristics, he and his research team concluded that the animal belongs to a completely new orangutan.
However, the population of Tapanuli orangutans is less than 800 in the area, it becomes the rarest orangutan in the natural world. Its conservation status is extremely critical.
Water bears in Japan
The Japanese researcher Kazuharu Arakawa, while washing the moss layer, closed outside his apartment - this is his daily work to study the microbiological world - discovering a new species.

Actually the animal he found was a water bear, or Tardigrade. This is a great creature with a very good ability to survive even in any harsh environment, from extremely cold to very high radiation. At only about 0.8 mm in size, they have eight legs and chubby appearance like bears. In particular, this is a vegetarian creature.
The new crustacean is named after a character in Victor Hugo's work
Researchers in Belgium discovered a small animal that lived in Antarctica, and named it after a character in Victor Hugo's work: The Quasimodo hunchback at the Notre Dame Cathedral, by the The curved back of this animal.

Epimeria quasimodo's relatives are crustaceans with bright colors and hunched looks, which look like the heads of dragons in myths. Unlike lobsters, these crustaceans do not have a shell.
Beetles live in ant colonies in Costa Rica
These small red-orange beetles are not the usual beetle that we often see. Instead of hovering over the grassy areas, this beetle lives among ant colonies.

In fact, not this bug is forced to live with ants, but they actively do this. Possessing small looks and dark colors, they will cling to ants and will be 'transported' wherever the ants migrate, from which it can find food in a way easily.
Australian bisexual sea lizards with populations of up to 40,000
Deep down on the ocean floor, where there is not too much light and extremely cold, so this sea lizard develops both male and female sexual organs to be able to actively increase the number of species. Because of this characteristic, they can mate with any of the species without gender discrimination.

First discovered off the coast of East Australia in 2017 and officially announced this year. The scientific name of this species is Bathysaurus ferox, which is a fierce predator in its dark habitat.
The body of an adult can grow up to 50cm, the oral cavity always has sharp teeth and will bite everything it meets on the way. Despite being aggressive and frightening, but being a bisexual, it rarely moves too far but adjusts to the place where it was born.
Beetles live deep in caves in China, lifelong not seeing light
Newly discovered beetles in China are clear evidence of adaptation and evolution. Living their whole lives in dark caves, this bug has evolved to lose its wings and eyes.

Found in Guangxi, southern China, Xuedytes bellus lives in the region's distinctive cave population. At about 3 cm long, these beetles have elongated bodies and no wings like other beetles.
The marsupial lion once lived in Australia millions of years ago
About more than a million years ago in Australia today, there is a special species that we cannot see in modern times: bagged lions. Researchers at the University of New South Wales in Australia have found the fossil of this lion, once wandering around the Earth in the Oligocene World.

Scientists estimate the weight of this animal does not weigh more than 23 kg, which can be comparable to today's Siberian husky. Instead of a fierce carnivore like a modern lion, the bagged lion is an omnivore when it comes to a rich diet of raw meat to plants.
New crocodile species has just been discovered in Africa
A new species of crocodile has just been discovered in Africa, which was previously mistaken for a known crocodile species. The discovery was made earlier this year and was released in October.
The new crocodile is called the Central African Small Crocodile, which can be found throughout the African continent, from Cameroon to Tanzania. But before we still mistakenly think it belongs to Mecistops cataphractus because of its similar appearance.

Scientists only realized the difference between the two species when they found differences in skin and skull structure. While the Central African crocodile has softer and softer skin, the Mecistops cataphractus crocodile has a tougher, more rough skin. This difference is not so big that so far the scientific world has discovered it.
Researchers estimate there are only about 500 individuals of this crocodile in the wild, making the newly discovered crocodile species included in the list of critically endangered species.
