Discovered nearly 400 new species of creatures in Amazon

Researchers on August 30 announced that 381 new species have been discovered in the Amazon, but warn these organisms to grow in areas threatened by human activity.

The report of the Wildlife Conservation Fund (WWF) and the Brazilian Institute of Mamiraua published that among these organisms, there are 216 types of plants, 93 species of fish, 32 species of amphibians, 19 species of cows close, 1 bird and 20 mammals, of which 2 are fossils. These species are found throughout the Amazon forests spread across 9 South American countries, with an average of 1 species detected every 2 days.

This is WWF's third report on these new organisms. To date, about 2,000 new organisms have been discovered in the past 17 years. However, along with the good news, it is worrying that all of these 381 species will grow in areas that are severely damaged by human economic activities. WWF emphasizes human economic activity pushing many species to the point of extinction even before people know their existence.

As the richest biota of species, the Amazon is home to about 10% of the world's known species. Thus the Amazon forest is a world natural reserve, a biosphere reserve for humankind. Therefore, the conservation of rare and precious animal species and resources, especially biological resources in this area is particularly important to protect the existence and development of the world.

However, the Amazon forest is being devastated with dizzying speed. According to statistics, about 8,000 km 2 of Amazon forests in Brazil, which accounts for 60% of this forest area, were devastated in 2016, up 30% from the previous year.
