Discovered a herd of 4 cows in Dak Lak

On the morning of July 8, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung - Deputy Head of the Forest Protection Department of Ea So Nature Reserve (Ea Kar district, Dak Lak), said the unit had just recorded the figure of the bull in the reserve.

According to Mr. Hung, from June 23 to 29, the Forest Protection Department set up camera traps in a salt pit area (where cows often concentrate on drinking water and licking mineral salt in the soil) inside the subdivision. Camera traps recorded a 1 minute long video quite clearly about 4 bulls concentrating on drinking water.

According to Mr. Hung, in the past during the weekly patrols, forest rangers discovered traces of cows. However, the unit does not have a recording device, so it has not been determined whether this animal is.

"This is the first time the Reserve has recorded the herd after equipping a camera trap. In the herd there is a small bull, about 1 year old, which proves they have reproduction," Hung said. to speak.

Gaur (Bos gaurus) , is an animal belonging to the even Goose (Artiodactyla), Bovidae family, black and white. The tall adult averages 1.8 - 1.9m, about 3m long, weighs more than 1 ton.

Currently in Vietnam there are about 300 bulls in the wild and endangered species needing protection. In which, Ea So Nature Reserve is assessed to have the largest number of gaurs living in the country.
