Discovered a new plant species in Hon Ba-Khanh Hoa nature reserve

In the framework of the cooperation program between the Institute of Tropical Biology of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Asian Center for Ecological Conservation of Kyushu University, Japan on the study of plant diversity in Vietnam . The botanists have discovered a new plant species belonging to Na Annonaceae family in Hon Ba NR, Khanh Hoa province and named after the Giac Giac Goniothalamus flagellistylus.

New species are published in Phytokeys specialized journal, No. 50, pages 1–8, on May 23, 2015.

Mrs. Goniothalamus flagellistylus Tagane & VSDang is characterized by small trees, about 11 m high; young branches with feathers. The oval-shaped leaves are very large, measuring 31–45 x 8.2–11.5 cm, with pointed or imprisoned stumps, original covers, pointed and hairless heads on both sides; side by side 16–20 pairs.

Flowers alone, growing in the main body or old branches; flower stalks are 19–25 mm long. The radio is greenish green, hairless on the outside and has brown hair scattered on the inside, enduring. An oblong or narrow oval in the outer surface and a rhombus on the inside, with hairs. Multiple stenosis, flat oblong, size 3.8–4.8 x 0.6 mm. The ovary is 1.4–1.7 x 0.3 mm, covered with a slightly yellowish coat. Many fruits, oval, are reddish-brown in color, size 1.6–1.7 x 1 cm. Part 1, yellowish brown, 1.5 x 0.8-1.0 cm in size.

Her species of Siege is discovered at a height of 100-400 m in the closed evergreen broad-leaved, slightly sloping forest along streams, growing with other dominant species such as Ixonanthes reticulata Jack, Gironniera subaequalis Planch., Archidendron chevalieri (Kosterm.) ICNielsen, Barringtonia augusta Kurz, Barringtonia macrostachya (Jack) Kurz, Camellia krempfii (Gagn.) Sealy, Streblus indicus (Bureau) Corner, Xerospermum noronhianum Blume and Pandanus fibrosus Gagnep.
