Discovered a silver fish with a strange shape over 4 meters long drifting ashore in Hue

On May 17, fishermen in Thuan An ward (Hue City) conducted a ceremony to bury a nearly 4.5 meter long sea fish that had just drifted to the shore in a dead state.

Previously, local people discovered a fish with a moderate body width but nearly 4.5 meters long, weighing dozens of kilograms, drifting to the beach area of ​​Minh Hai residential group (Thuan An ward, city. Hue).

With its shape, color, length, and external fin style, local fishermen recognized this as a species of oarfish living in the marine environment.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duy Cuong - Head of Minh Hai Residential Group, oar fish is also known as dragon ho fish or giant fish . When fishermen go out to sea, encountering this fish is a sign of good luck. According to the customs of marine workers, when a dead oarfish is discovered drifting ashore, local people carefully bury it.

Mr. Cuong added that in the past 10 years, an oarfish has appeared drifting on Thuan An beach.
