Discovered ancient plant species in Lam Dong
Scientists of Bidoup Nui Ba National Park and Dalat University have discovered an ancient plant species living in the national park area, whose name is often called three-sided oak.
Three-sided oak, scientific name Trigonobalanus verticillata Forman , is an ancient plant genus with the lowest level of evolution in the limbs of the Fagaceae family.
In the world, the genus Trigonobalanus has only identified 3 species, of which the oak species of three identified edges are only distributed in Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
Previously, in February 2002, scientists from the Center for Natural Resources and Environment - Vietnam Forest Inventory and Planning Institute found that this species is distributed in Ngoc National Park and Ngoc Nature Reserve. Linh, Kon Ha Nung (Kon Tum province) and Kon Ka Kinh (Gia Lai).
Up to this point, Bidoup Nui Ba National Park has discovered 4 species of ancient and rare plants living here, including two flat leaves, Fokienia, Five-leaf pine and Three-sided Oak.
