Egyptian and European archaeologists have discovered the giant statue of an ancient queen, in the ruins of southern Egypt. The statue of 3,62 meters high is of Queen Tiy, wife of the pharaoh dynasty 18 Amenhotep III.
It is found around the area with two huge twin statues Colossi of Memnon, suppressing the path to the famous Kings of the Kings.
The team also found here two sphinxes, representing Tiy and Amenhotep III, along with 10 black granite statues of the head god lion Sekhmet, the guardian of the pharaohs.
The Egyptian culture minister praised the discovery as a " respectable " job and said the statues will be introduced to the public next year. Along with two other 15-meter-tall excavations recently excavated, they will be placed behind, 100 meters from the Colossi of Memnon statue, acting as an " open museum ".
Colossi of Memnon are two giant sand stone statues, about 20 meters high, each playing a protective role for a temple of Amenhotep III (the temple was destroyed in an earthquake).
