Discovered the oldest Buddhist manuscript

Picture 1 of Discovered the oldest Buddhist manuscript Australian scientists have discovered what they believe to be the first known Buddhist literary work.

The carbon analysis of a rare manuscript called " Dead Sea scrolls of Buddhism ", taken from a personal collection, may reveal a great deal about this religious origin.

These handwritten pieces of paper were carefully washed and dated at Sydney's Lucas Heights Nuclear Reactor. Researchers found the writing from the 1st to 5th century AD.

Dr. Mark Allon at the University of Sydney said they believe this is the first evidence of Buddhist literature in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

" These manuscripts will open up the light of Buddhism's transformation into China, such as what kind of Buddhism has been introduced, how it has been spread, where this writing comes from and where it is. How has been developed ".

This discovery also helps historians learn how books and Buddhism have been born.
