Diving, catching giant grouper twice as big
Most likely this is the largest black grouper ever caught by the method of hunting fish in the water.
A Florida firefighter who joined the local fishing competition was surprised to find a giant grouper.
The organizing committee of the Aquatic Hunting Challenge Suncoast posted photos of James Taylor and teammate Tom Mitchell, Mike Jeanes, Chris Williams and 185kg black grouper.
The heavy black grouper, 185kg, has just been caught in the US.
"Congratulations to the Trident team and members of the Suncoast Underwater Club who won the Grouper category , " the organizers of the contest joked on Facebook.
Taylor, a Bradenton firefighter, hunted a fish about 137km from the shore, at a depth of about 76m. He is currently waiting to confirm that this is the largest black grouper ever hunted underwater.
Sport Fishing magazine said the largest grouper was caught with a 198kg heavy fishing rod, captured in 1985.
The capture team took pictures with the giant fish.
