Dolphins also have their own names

Picture 1 of Dolphins also have their own names Dolphins also communicate like humans by calling each other's names. US researchers say the mammal can recognize each other by its unique identities.

Researchers at the University of St Andrews have discovered that the nasal dolphin uses "proper names" instead of sounds to distinguish each other. The study lasted 3 years on wild fish.

Dr. Vincent Janik said: " We catch the dolphins naturally when they come near the shore. In that shallow water we record the whistling sounds of each one and then create the computer sound of each fish. " .

" Next we turn on the sound for other fish to hear and see that they all have the reaction. This shows that the dolphins know the individual whistles of each child instead of just the general sound. ".

This is an interesting finding because it shows that animals have developed abilities like humans. They also have their own nicknames for individuals.

The study was conducted on the west coast of Sarasota Bay in Florida.
