Drought in some provinces in China caused 4.8 million people to lack drinking water, the China Daily cited sources from the national drought remedy.
In the issue on May 16, the daily newspaper wrote 11 million hectares of crops in Gansu, Hebei, Henan, Liaoning and many other provinces severely affected by drought.
'' Low rainfall plus excessive high temperatures are the main causes of drought. The drought began at the end of last month , 'said Ye Dianxiu, a meteorologist.
