Eating chocolate against fatigue
Eating dark chocolate is an effective way to prevent fatigue. A study at the Hull York University of Medicine (UK) confirms that cocoa in chocolate helps people with chronic fatigue syndrome feel better.
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) has been identified since 1985 and is now recognized by the World Health Organization. The symptoms are constant fatigue, muscle pain, memory loss, loss of concentration, sleep disturbance and difficulty in recovery. 80% of victims are women.
(Photo: m-corp.com) Dr Stephen Atkin, a specialist in endocrinology at Hull York University, invited 45 patients with chronic fatigue syndrome to participate in the study. In the beginning, he gave each person 45 g of dark chocolate, rich in polyphenols and contained 85% of cocoa daily, for 8 weeks. After 2 weeks of rest, they were given a ' fake chocolate ' poor polyphenol with the same dose.
As a result, the patients felt that their health improved markedly when eating polyphenol-rich chocolate and getting tired again when replaced with fake chocolate.
The author explained that chocolate increases serotonine levels, a messenger of the brain that regulates mood and sleep. This is an antidepressant, stimulates the nervous system, contains many polyphenols with antioxidant effects, helps prevent cell aging and reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Other studies will be conducted on a large scale to determine the above results.
