Erupting land in Ninh Thuan

The land suddenly extruded into a mound, ash gray appeared more than this month in Loi Hai commune (Thuan Bac, Ninh Thuan). Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of the province said that it could be due to cracking of the geological layer, so the mud rose.

According to the people, in the field of Suoi Da village, Loi Hai commune, initially only small mud puddles appeared and then spread like volcanic lava.

There are a total of 5 mud pools and debris soil, the smallest one is about 1.2 m ² and the largest is 2 m ² . The mounds erupted by mud are ash-gray, odorless, normal temperature.

Mr. Ho Van Hung, Director of Ninh Thuan Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said that the phenomenon may be due to cracking of the geological layer, so the mud rises. In the immediate future, the Department conducts monitoring of eruption points, monitoring related phenomena.

Currently, the Department has no conclusions about the cause of this phenomenon and sends a report to the People's Committee and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for guidance.

In order to avoid possible incidents, local authorities have organized protection, delineated areas with mud eruptions, placed warning signs to prevent people and animals from approaching.
