Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee has just decided to establish Con Co island marine protected area with a total area of ​​4,532 ha according to the type of conservation of species and ornamental organisms including coral reef ecosystems and rare marine flora and fauna species. .

With 70% of the area being beautiful forests and reefs, Con Co island promises to become
future marine eco-tourism area

Accordingly, the scope of conservation includes three subdivisions: strict protection zone (534ha, from the water edge to the outside is 400-700m, depth of 15m), ecological rehabilitation subdivision (1,392ha, calculated from the edge) The boundary of strict protection zone is from 1,000-1,700m, the depth of 14-20m), the development zone (2,376ha, is limited by a circle around the island).

In addition, the nature reserve also has a community development area (a floating area of ​​230 hectares wide) and a belt of marine protected areas of Con Co island located outside the reserve, 300-500m wide, calculated from the boundary of the protected area. come back to limit the impact from outside.
