Establishment of Bach Long Vi marine reserve

The Prime Minister has just decided to establish Bach Long Vi MPA with a total area of ​​more than 27,000 hectares, in order to develop sustainable species here.

According to the decision, this will be a natural aquatic resource reserve . Conservation objects are coral reef ecosystems, seaweed grasses, seed yards, spawning grounds and aquatic species living in the area. The scope of the nature reserve is the mainland on the island and along the coast, with an external boundary defined by the road connecting the convex points of the contour line of 30 m.

The above area aims to conserve and sustainably endangered plant and animal species, endemic and rare species, especially abalone, snail, pearl oyster and red lobster . At the same time serving scientific research activities, participation, ecotourism, building and experimenting conservation models.

The Government of Hai Phong City assigns and establishes the infrastructure of the reserve. In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development cooperates with the local to organize propaganda and legal education to the fishing community.

Essential infrastructure needs investment such as completing administrative area for the reserve; mark landmarks, buoys and signboards for functional zones, building protection stations, selecting locations to build an endangered and rare aquatic animal rescue area.
