The European Aeronautics Agency (ESA) plans to build an international resort on the Moon for another 20 years.

The idea of building " Moon Village " opens the door for more extensive space exploration.

In a newly released video, Johann-Dietrich Woerner, head of ESA, revealed the idea of " Moon Village ", which combines the achievements of every country to develop space exploration technology in the world. . This residence can be completed by 2030, using natural resources on the Moon's surface to create a long-term base for scientific, business and human tourism.

Mr. Woerner said, nearly 50 years after humans first set foot on the Moon, humanity's next big step was to create a long-term base that could be used similarly to the International Space Station ( ISS). He proposed building a resort of this type in the polar regions or areas with continuous daylight in the distance of the Moon.

ESA leaders explained, in the southernmost part of the Moon, in a continual dark area, humans can take water to produce hydrogen and oxygen. And in the shadow of the Moon, humans will be protected from cosmic rays and incoming solar radiation. These locations also reduce the risk of meteorite occurrences and extreme weather events. The chosen location also needs to be a suitable place for people to build a radio telescope with the Moon's natural resources as well as materials brought up from the Earth.

The Moon Village concept aims to provide a flexible base, opening the door to more extensive space exploration as well as establishing a potential business or mining center for humans. It can also be used for leisure and leisure activities of travelers.

To make Moon Village a reality, Mr. Woerner said international cooperation was necessary. Each country can contribute to human resources, technology or machinery and equipment.

Although many countries, especially the US, are focusing on missions that explore Mars, but ESA leaders are determined, Moon Village is a more feasible target. With current technology, he said, it will take another 20 years for us to realize this goal. However, the settlement on the moon is necessary and may be the next " great leap " of humanity.
