Face the giant whale
A British photographer took countless impressive photos while searching for tens of tons of humpback whales on American waters.
Telegraph said, Duncan Murrell is a photographer in the UK. The 56-year-old man was called "whaleman" because he was able to approach whales without making them angry or frightened. Fishermen in Alaska state are accustomed to the sight of British nationals traveling whales in the summer - the time when they intensify their fishing activities - by kayaking.
The photos below belong to Murell's humpback whale collection.
A humpback back whale in Tenakee Bay, southeastern Alaska, USA. It is only a few meters from the kayak of photographer Duncan Murrell.
Murell swam around the animal. Humpback whales reach a length of 12-16 m and weigh approximately 36 tons when they reach adulthood.
The 56-year-old photographer said whale photography is the most challenging job for him, because they dive underwater for most of the time.
For years Murell has built a close relationship with humpback whales in Alaska state waters.
He often rowed up to 50 km every day to follow them.
Humpback whales often jump out of the water without warning.
Every time the humpback whale rushed out of the water, Murell had only a few seconds to decide whether he should hold the camera or brandish the paddle to escape.
Duncan Murell flew to America for the first time in 1978 to photograph insects, reptiles and amphibians in the Amazon. But then he was fascinated by the wild nature of Alaska.
"I bought a small yacht to explore the islands in southeastern Alaska. One day a humpback whale came up near my boat and dived, leaving bubbles on the water , " he said. tell.
Too impressed by the spectacular sight, after the trip Murell decided to buy an old kayak to look for humpback whales."I choose a kayak because it allows me to get close to whales without disturbing them , " he said.
