After more than a year of waiting, finally found the donor, David Rodebaugh, 26, a bicycle repairman, who died in a traffic accident in August last year. .

Patrick's 12-hour surgery took place two days later.

Dr. Rodriguez and his team have step by step surgically implanted parts of the patient's face, including a part of the face, scalp, ears, ear canal and bone areas from the chin, cheeks and whole set of nose.

In addition, the eyelid and eye muscles (functions that help blink the eyes) are also successfully operated.

Dr. Rodriguez and the patient received a face transplant.

Dr. Rodriguez revealed: "After 3 months from the surgery, the patient's health and disease condition is gradually recovering, expected in about 6 months, he will be able to talk back to normal".

It is known that the entire cost of surgery (about 850,000 - 1 million USD) will be borne by Langone Hospital.
