Vietnam is about to match the face, intestine and uterus

Share with PV on June 20, Prof.Dr. Trinh Hong Son, Deputy Director of Viet Duc Hospital, Director of the National Organ Coordination Center shared a new step in the field of organ transplantation.

'Lung transplants for adults will be performed by Viet Duc Hospital in September 2017. The hospital is also available for grafting, face transplantation and uterine grafting , ' GS. Trinh Hong Son said.

For lung transplants, a patient with expected lung transplantation is a man with lung disease who must always use a breathing machine to maintain life.

Prof. Trinh Hong Son shared a new step in organ transplantation in Vietnam.

GS. Trinh Hong Son said that the first lung transplant for adults should be very difficult because Vietnam has no experience. People with severe lung disease need oxygen support, but to convince them that lung transplant is not easy. Not to mention, lung transplant is the most easily encountered organ transplant and resuscitation after transplantation is also extremely challenging. Moreover, the transplant is not a State subject, so it will face many difficulties in funding.

However, at present, the Hospital has prepared carefully for transplant cases from transplant sources, recipients, surgeons, equipment, modern machines, operating tables.

'If there is now someone who gives brain death to donate the lungs, we can also do the transplant without waiting until September as planned' - Trinh Hong Son said.

From the successes in organ transplantation, Viet Duc Hospital's team of specialists is also available for new grafting areas such as uterine grafting, limb grafting, and grafting .

Uterine grafting will create opportunities for many women to become mothers. For a long time, there are many people of reproductive age who for some reason have to remove the uterus, or suffer from uterine malformations, so they cannot have children. If Viet Duc Hospital conducts uterine transplantation, these women can fully give birth as normal women. This is also a very humane goal of the organ transplant field.

Prof. Son also said that he will soon implement quadrilateral transplantation, grafting and face transplantation. Face transplantation is considered to be a simpler method, like face shaping. Grafting is a challenge of organ resources.

According to GS Son, the most difficult thing is transplanting four limbs because there is only one source of donation from people for brain death. While, Vietnamese people always have the idea that they must be seen when burial, so that it is very difficult to mobilize the families of the brain dead.

Technically, the experts are not concerned because the fact that transplanting the four limbs for the unfortunate people who have suffered four limbs has been done very well and very successfully.
